The specific application of geological radar in tunnel quality inspection
3.1 Inspection of lining concrete thickness
In traditional detection methods, most construction units in China generally use the drilling method to detect the thickness of lining concrete. However, due to the significant damage to the overall integrity of lining concrete and the impact on engineering quality, and the lack of representativeness of the detection results, in recent years, most construction units in China have changed to using the geological radar detection method to evaluate the thickness of lining concrete, Not only can it ensure that the integrity of concrete is not damaged, but it also greatly increases the accuracy of detection results due to the strong continuity of radar detection. Therefore, since the 1990s, geological radar has gradually become one of the important detection methods in China.
3.2 Detection of internal bonding degree of lining concrete
Some construction units may experience uneven pouring, excessive bubbles, and lack of regularity during the mixing process of concrete materials due to problems or low quality of the materials themselves. However, traditional detection methods cannot detect these situations in a timely manner, resulting in a lower degree of bonding afterwards. By using ground penetrating radar to detect lining concrete, the overall internal results of the concrete can be detected by emitting high-frequency electromagnetic waves during detection, and combined with relevant data processing software. Once a low degree of cementation is found, the image can be transmitted to the computer receiving terminal through signal propagation, transmission, etc., and the detection results can be presented intuitively. For example, when the ground penetrating radar receives highly fluctuating reflected waves during detection, which exhibit deformities and significantly enhanced amplitudes, it indicates that there has been a large range of local changes inside the concrete. If the waveform appears in a disordered form, it indicates that the cementation and density of the lining concrete at that location are low.
