On October 21, the event "Academician Empowerment · Smart Innovation for the Future—Tech & Economy Convergence: Expert Visits to Enterprises on Cutting-Edge Dam Hazard Detection Technologies" was held at Wuhan Baoye Center. The event specially invited Academician Liu Jingnan, an expert in geodesy and satellite navigation from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, along with Professor Deng Shikun from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Professor Wang Li from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, to inject "intelligent momentum" into enterprises' technological innovation.

Academician Liu Jingnan has long been engaged in theoretical and applied research as well as teaching in the field of geodesy. He has made a series of groundbreaking contributions in areas such as geodetic coordinate system theory, BeiDou satellite navigation and positioning technology, software development, and large-scale engineering applications. The specialized project he leads—titled "Key Technologies and Scalable Applications for the BeiDou High-Precision Augmentation System"—has been included as a flagship technical攻关 project under Hubei Province's initiative. These cutting-edge technologies have not only broken foreign technological monopolies but have also catalyzed the widespread adoption of BeiDou solutions across multiple sectors, providing critical momentum for Hubei to build a thriving, hundred-billion-yuan-level BeiDou industry cluster and solidify its position as the nation's core engine driving the BeiDou ecosystem forward.

As a key enterprise paired with this event, Wuhan Wave Technology Co., Ltd. is a vital force in the high-end equipment industry within the "335" modern industrial system of Qingshan District. The company has consistently focused on engineering safety and disaster monitoring, upholding its corporate mission of "Wave Technology—Making Life Safer." By integrating cutting-edge technologies such as wave theory, it has successfully developed a range of innovative products, including ground-penetrating radar and advanced disaster monitoring and early-warning systems. Just two years after its establishment, the company has rapidly emerged as a rising star garnering significant attention within the industry.

During the event, Academician Liu Jingnan highly praised Wuhan Wave Technology Co., Ltd.'s development potential and technological roadmap. Addressing the core technical challenges raised by enterprises, such as "high-precision positioning alternatives in complex occlusion environments," he engaged in in-depth discussions with on-site experts and provided detailed, professional analyses for each issue. Additionally, Academician Liu Jingnan shared forward-looking insights on electromagnetic waves and BeiDou positioning technology, along with their applications in lunar exploration. He then outlined potential use cases for the seamless integration of 5G and BeiDou technologies, while also offering a visionary outlook on the future developments of urban digital twins, the low-altitude economy, digital sensing, and the Internet of Things—inspiring attendees profoundly. Representatives from industry players involved in the technology supply chain, including China First Metallurgical Group, China Metallurgical Wuhan Geotechnical Engineering Corporation, China Metallurgical Central-South Bureau, and Keda Geo-Information Services, participated in the exchange and consultation session, which lasted over two hours.

That day, Academician Liu Jingnan also visited the Binjiang Future Experimental Primary School in Qingshan District and toured the exhibition hall dedicated to Academician Zhang Shourong. At the scene, he inscribed the words: "Respect and surpass our predecessors; respect and transcend textbooks; reflect on ourselves and rise above ourselves." Lei Ping, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairperson of the Wuhan Science and Technology Association, along with Liu Jingjing, member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Wuhan Chemical Industry Zone, accompanied him during the visit.

This event was guided by the Wuhan Science and Technology Association, organized by the Organization Department of Qingshan District Committee and the Qingshan District Science and Technology Association, and undertaken by Lechuang Interconnect (Wuhan) Technology Enterprise Incubator Co., Ltd. and Wuhan WaveTech Co., Ltd. It is reported that, as a pre-event warm-up for this "Science & Economy Convergence" Academician Enterprise Tour activity, Professor Tang Weiming, a member of Academician Liu Jingnan's team, has already been invited to deliver a special lecture titled "Beidou and Its Applications" at the Qingshan Science and Innovation Lecture Series and the Young Cadres' "Professional Academy." This keynote speech has helped set a positive tone for the upcoming series of events.

This year, the Qingshan District Science and Technology Association has closely aligned with the district's goal of building a "335" modern industrial system. By strengthening resource matching and optimizing service support, the association is fully committed to fostering "zero-distance" collaboration between academicians, expert teams, and enterprises, accelerating breakthroughs in critical technologies and promoting the commercialization of innovative results—thus injecting even greater scientific and technological strength into Qingshan District's efforts to become a leading hub for new industrialization.
