The radar water level gauge is a high-precision, non-contact water level measurement instrument. Its key advantages include contactless measurement, easy installation, and the use of electromagnetic waves to determine distance, unaffected by environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, rain, snow, or windblown sand. It can directly measure water levels in natural river channels and enable remote transmission and automated processing of water level data. Furthermore, this device features rapid water level tracking, non-contact measurement, and minimal sensitivity to wind, sand, temperature, and floating debris, making it well suited for applications in rivers, reservoirs, and similar settings. It can also be used to measure open-channel flow, tank liquid levels, and the levels of liquids, slurries, and viscous materials.
Measurement principle:
The radar level gauge emits an extremely narrow, low‑energy microwave pulse from its antenna. This pulse travels through space at the speed of light and, upon encountering the measured medium, is reflected back to the instrument. By measuring the time interval between the transmitted and received pulses—proportional to the distance from the reference plane to the surface of the medium—the gauge determines the distance from the antenna to the medium’s surface.
