Tunnel lining

With the rapid development of China's economy, ground penetrating radar (GPR) has been widely used in the quality inspection of highway tunnel lining construction. As a non-destructive testing method, GPR can accurately and effectively assess the quality and safety status. The increasing number of tunnels and mileage is also accompanied by hazards such as lining leakage, cracking, and erosion, seriously affecting people's lives and property safety and causing significant economic losses to the country.

Lining structure detection includes: thickness, steel support, and steel bar density. GPR can detect problems such as the compaction of over-excavation backfilling, tunnel voids, interlayer delamination, lining cracks, and leakage.

This detection uses the BD-GPR ground penetrating radar launched by Wuhan Wave Technology. According to the tunnel lining requirements, we selected antennas with a center frequency of 400MHz + 900MHz, as shown below:

Tunnel detection at a certain location

From the data image, it can be seen that there are continuous small hyperbolic reflection signals in the shallow part, which are determined to be the reflection of the secondary lining steel bars, with a depth of about 10cm. There are obvious layer reflection signals at a depth of 50cm-60cm, which are determined to be the thickness of the secondary lining.
